Yesterday the International League announced that Russ Adams was named the "batter of the week" for the period from April 14-20.
"Adams hit safely in all seven games this week, pushing his overall hitting streak to eight games. Adams has posted a .417 average since last Monday with a pair of homers and six RBI. His average was tied for the 3rd-best mark in the League during the stretch, while he led the circuit in runs scored (8) and on-base percentage (.533) and was 2nd in extra-base hits (7) and slugging percentage (.833).
More importantly, Adams sparked the Chiefs to six straight wins to close the week, moving the team into sole possession of 2nd place in the IL North just 1.0 game behind Scranton/Wilkes-Barre."
Russ Adams has been playing right field and has even been slotted in as the DH for Syracuse. The 27-year-old was selected by the Blue Jays in the first round of the 2002 draft.
Charlie Zink of Pawtucket was named pitcher of the week.
