Some news from the Blue Jays front.

Game suspended

The "Flashback Wednesday" game featuring vintage uni’s from both the Blue Jays and Orioles was suspended in the 6th inning and will continue tomorrow afternoon. Lyle Overbay will remain at third base overnight to avoid being tagged out by Melvin Mora.

The Blue Jays are up 2-1 with two outs and Scott Rolen at bat.

The game will continue at 12:05 and the second game will start 20 minutes after the first game is complete.

Our game recap will be combined for the two games.

Litsch send down

Jesse Litsch was optioned down to Triple-A Syracuse. Litsch started the year with a record of 7-1, but has only won once since the beginning of June.

David Purcey will replace Litsch in the starting rotation. Purcey was the starting pitcher for the Northern Division in the the Triple-A all-star game and has a 2.69 ERA for the Chiefs this season.

International signing

The Blue Jays signed international free agent Gustavo Pierre, a 16 year old from the Dominican Republic.

The 6-1 180 pound shortstop will attend the Blue Jays academy in the Dominican Republic.

"Gustavo is a very, very good athlete with a lot of tools and a polished bat for a 16-year old. He is the kind of player you notice when you walk in a ballpark." - Marco Paddy, director of scouting in Latin America
