The Blue Jays jumped to a 2-0 lead when in the first inning, Alex Rios hit a two out double, quickly followed by a 2-run blast on a hanging curve ball from Vernon Wells.
The Orioles answered back quickly when Luke Scott cracked a 2-run homer of his own in the top of the second, tieing the game at 2-2. However, Scott's home run should of only been a solo shot. A missed call on a would-be double play the previous at bat allowed Scott to come up with a runner on.
The score remained knotted at two when Rod Barajas doubled in Lyle Overbay in the bottom of the fourth, putting the Blue Jays up 3-2.
The Orioles knotted the score again in the fifth when Rod Barajas made an errant throw, on a slow rolling "swinging bunt," that allowed Cesar Izturis to score all the way from first base.
Alex Rios answered back with a home run in the bottom of the inning to put the Blue Jays up for good.

Scott Richmond turned in 7.0 solid innings (2 ER, 2 BBs and 2Ks), earning his fourth win (4-0), before turning it over to reliable bullpen arms in Jesse Carlson (5th hold) and Scott Downs to close out the game (3rd save).
On the defensive end Scott Rolen snagged a line drive, robbing Brian Roberts of a base hit to end the 7th inning.
With the win, the Blue Jays improved their 2009 record to 18-7 and kept sole possession of first place in the A.L. East after the Red Sox (15-10) dropped their 4 game series finale to the Rays shortly after.
The Blue Jays will now welcome the Indians to the Rogers Centre for a two game mini-series starting Monday with Brian Tallet on the hill.
